Ripple XRP Crypto Market Breaks Below $1.30 as Futures Longs Retreat

Ripple XRP Crypto Market Breaks Below $1.30 as Futures Longs Retreat

OCTOBER 24, 2026

Ripple-linked XRP moved back into the crypto market spotlight on October 24 after sliding below the closely watched $1.30 level, a break that left traders focused on whether buyers can defend the lower end of the token’s recent trading range.

Market data showed XRP changing hands near $1.28 in the latest session, down more than 2% over 24 hours and weaker than several large-cap peers. The move followed a failed attempt to rebuild momentum above $1.40 earlier in the week, turning $1.30 from a support marker into the first level bulls may need to reclaim.

The decline comes as broader digital-asset sentiment remains cautious ahead of the next Federal Reserve policy decision on October 28. Higher-for-longer rate risk, slower institutional inflows and softer speculative appetite have left altcoins more exposed to leverage reduction than defensive accumulation.

XRP Support Zone Becomes the Market’s Immediate Test

The $1.25 to $1.30 area has become the main battleground for XRP traders because it has repeatedly attracted dip-buying during October. A sustained break beneath that band would risk opening a deeper technical reset, while a quick move back above $1.30 could signal that sellers are struggling to extend control.

Short-term resistance is now clustered between $1.34 and $1.40, where prior moving-average levels and failed breakout attempts may create overhead supply. That means XRP may need stronger spot volume, not only futures positioning, to confirm any durable rebound.

Volume trends have not yet delivered that confirmation. Recent trading activity has eased as the token approached support, suggesting that some buyers remain cautious rather than aggressively positioning for an immediate reversal.

Futures Deleveraging Keeps Pressure on Altcoins

Derivatives positioning is adding to the pressure. Open interest in XRP futures has fallen sharply from recent levels, indicating that leveraged traders have reduced exposure as volatility picked up. Long-heavy positioning on some venues also increases the risk of abrupt moves when support levels fail.

That setup matters for the wider crypto market because XRP remains one of the largest and most liquid altcoins. A failure to stabilize could reinforce defensive positioning across payment-linked tokens and other high-beta digital assets, while a recovery could help rebuild confidence outside the largest cryptocurrencies.

For now, the market signal is cautious rather than capitulatory. XRP is not trading in isolation: weaker global risk appetite, uncertainty over crypto regulation and the approach of the Fed decision are all shaping demand for speculative tokens.

Ripple Narrative Still Needs a Fresh Catalyst

The Ripple ecosystem continues to benefit from investor interest in cross-border settlement, tokenized liquidity and regulated digital-payment infrastructure. However, traders appear unwilling to price those themes aggressively while price action remains below key moving averages.

A fresh catalyst could come from clearer regulatory signals, stronger institutional payment activity or a visible improvement in crypto fund flows. Without that, XRP may remain range-bound and vulnerable to another test of the lower support area.

The immediate market question is simple: can XRP quickly regain $1.30 and build momentum toward $1.34, or will the break invite another round of futures-driven selling? Until spot demand improves, the token’s near-term path is likely to remain tied to leverage, liquidity and macro risk appetite.
